A taste sensation
Imagine driving through the sun-drenched landscapes of Victoria, a short 30-minute journey south of Mildura. As you approach the small town of Iraak, your senses are awakened by a tantalising aroma – the unmistakable scent of fresh garlic. This is where the magic happens, the home of Australian Garlic.
Nearly thirty years ago, Nick Diamantopoulos had a vision: to provide Australians with high-quality, locally grown garlic. Tired of the poor quality of imported garlic, he embarked on a mission to fill supermarket shelves with homegrown bulbs. From the small hobby farm where he got started, he’s grown his love of garlic and become one of our country’s biggest producers.
Garlic, the “original” superfood, has been revered for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. Ancient cultures, from the Greeks and Romans to the Egyptians, recognised its power to combat illness and promote well-being. Even in more recent history, garlic has been used to ward off plagues and pandemics.
Australian Garlic is more than just a name, it’s a testament to our region’s rich agricultural heritage and a commitment to quality. The business has been at the forefront of Australia’s garlic industry, supplying over 80% of the nation’s fresh garlic to major supermarkets across the nation.
Beyond quality, Australian Garlic prioritises sustainable farming practices. They are committed to environmental stewardship and social responsibility, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
A range of Australian Garlic products, including fresh bulbs, cloves and paste, are available at the Centre’s gift shop.
