Meet the Maker - September Edition

Meet the Maker: John Falcon

A canvas with heART

For John Falcon, art isn’t just a passion – it’s therapy. Since picking up a paintbrush at age 10, he has never stopped creating. His extensive art education began in the United States and continued in Australia, including studies at the Fitzroy School of Art in Melbourne and the Julian Ashton School of Art in Sydney.

Five years ago, he brought his artistic spirit to the Mildura region, quickly becoming part of the local art scene and connecting with the Mildura Riverfront Art Gallery. After selling countless pieces and participating in gallery exhibitions, he branched out to sell his work independently.

John’s art is a powerful expression of his deep connection to Mother Earth. He finds his inspiration in the flora and fauna he encounters on his walks around the Mildura region. His creative process is all about being “in the moment,” in a state of deep awareness and alignment with his surroundings. He weaves this experience into vibrant stories told through vivid colours and images.

Each bird, reptile, tree and animal John depicts has a story or a message, offering him a sense of beauty and abundance. He sees his art as a window into our connection with nature, hoping that it moves people emotionally and gives them an insight into their own meaning of life. He believes that these encounters hold a mirror to mystery and that art evokes a deep, untamed wonder that cannot be articulated in words but rather in images.

A contemporary artist, Falcon works in various mediums, including watercolour, acrylic, drawing and oil. His work has been featured in several solo exhibitions, including two at Workspace 3496 + Gallery in Red Cliffs and one at the Mildura Arts Centre this year.

You can find John’s stunning work, which includes gift cards, prints and original paintings, at the Red Cliffs Country Market and Sunraysia Farmers & Makers Market. His art is also available on his website, and at the Mildura Visitor Information Centre’s gift shop.
